Pagrindiniai Pasaulinės krepšinio trenerių asociacijos uždaviniai: trenerio statuso nustatymas ir įtvirtinimas, kvalifikacijos kėlimas, literatūros leidimas. Aukščiausiasis organas – generalinė asamblėja, šaukiama kas 4 metai. Ji renka asociacijos prezidentą ir viceprezidentą. 2000 m. Pasaulinė krepšinio trenerių asociacija vienijo daugiau kaip 150 valstybių krepšinio trenerius.
